A space for the people of Keynsham to meet, learn and share

Community Matters

Keynsham Community Hub is a volunteer-run charity based in a small community centre in Queens Road, Keynsham.  We promote social cohesion by bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds to share in a range of programmes aimed at improving our community, and building trust through sharing activities.

We aim to create a sense of pride in our community, and a feeling of belonging. We provide a safe and neutral space for various groups to socialise, learn and develop new skills, and make Keynsham a better place to live.  Organisations and individuals that work with us find us supportive, trustworthy, and willing to partner with them to deliver our shared objectives.

We depend on a committed and enthusiastic group of volunteers who manage the Queens Road centre, and run many of the programmes.  A 2019 survey revealed that an incredible 6,221 hours per year were given by volunteers - which would have cost £138,758 to deliver the same services using paid staff!  As well as helping run our programmes, volunteers also work hard behind the scenes to keep the centre running - from cleaning and maintenance to administration.

We are always looking for more volunteers!  We are a friendly group who want to make Keynsham a great place in which to live.

Our Story

The building which Keynsham Community Hub now occupies was formerly a Post Office and shop.  When the Post Office closed, a group of local people worked together to turn the building into a community centre.  In 2011, it became a Registered Charity called ‘Community At 67’.

Converting the premises to a modern community centre required a great deal of hard
work and some generous grants.  In 2014, we were awarded a grant from Bath & North East Somerset (BANES) to transform the back yard into a meeting room, the back office of the shop into a kitchen, and to install a new toilet.  We also replaced the shop frontage with a new window and door, and installed WiFi and a hearing loop system.

Until recently we also had a radio studio used by KTCR FM, who eventually outgrew the small office and have now found larger premises.  We lease the premises from Curo Housing Association and rely on grants, donations and other income to cover the rent.

After a two-year process working with an independent consultant, we rebranded and relaunched the charity as Keynsham Community Hub in February 2025.
